Lagoon 40

The boat that took over from the 400 and sold in the hundreds — light, easily handled and the most common Lagoon on the used market.

The Lagoon everyone actually sails

The 40 replaced the 400 and then outsold nearly everything in its size. The reason is not a spec sheet line. It is that two people can take her out on a Friday evening without a plan, a crew or a conversation about whether it is worth the trouble — and that is the difference between a boat you own and a boat you use.

What the three-cabin version buys you

The owner’s version gives one whole hull to one cabin: a proper double, a desk, a private head and a separate shower, with a door you close on the rest of the boat. On a forty-foot catamaran that is not a luxury, it is what makes living aboard for a fortnight feel like living rather than camping. The salon berth is there when the boat has to sleep more.

Rigged for two, not for a delivery crew

Self-tacking jib, everything led aft to the helm, and an electric winch within reach of the wheel. You tack by turning. That single decision is why so many 40s end up doing long coastal passages with a couple aboard and nobody else.
